Description: Project from ME-191 (basicaly a freshman-level MATLAB class) at Milwaukee School of Engineering. My partner built a fixture that allowed the "crazy arm thing" and a pair of I/R rangers to be mounted to the XY plotter. One sensor looks down, the other out horizontally. The program has the table retreat to the bottom right and scan the table for size (they were all a bit different). As it backs away from the black tray, it looks at the I/R signal noise and determines its usable range. The table scans back and forth looking for an object - once one is found the table approaches it, scans it for size, and decides whether or not the gripper can pick it up. If all is well, the arm is appropriately positioned, picks up the object about its center, brings it over to the tray, and deploys the massive thumbs up machine. |
