Description: No one's going to give it away. They make it hard for the people today. To get what you want, you've got to do it yourself. Don't be afraid to drive the nail in the wood. Or drink the bottle if it tastes so good. You'll go the distance. You never thought that you could. Reach out and take it. Reach out and ta-ta take it. Reach out and take it. Reach out and ta-ta-ta take it. Reach out and take it. Oh, yeah! Cough up the cash when you go over and over. Before the old one's gone, you've got a new owner. You need assistance when your head's in the clouds. You could live easy if life stood still. You could be faking and breaking and taking it all. But then you know you're gonna fall. Reach out and take it. Reach out and ta-ta take it. Reach out and take it. Reach out and ta-ta-ta take it. Reach out and take it. Don't have to make it so hard. Don't have to make it so, so hard. Don't have to make it so hard. Don't have to make it so HARD! ( solos ) Reach out and take it. Reach out and ta-ta take it. Reach out and take it. Reach out and ta-ta-ta take it. Reach out and take it. Reach out. Reach out. Take what you want. Reach out. Reach out. Take what you want. _____________________________ The soundtrack was released on LP in 1981, but for legal reasons, was not released on CD until 1995. The album peaked at number 12 on the Billboard chart in 1981. Blue Öyster Cult wrote and recorded a song called "Vengeance (The Pact)" for the movie. However, the producers declined to use the song because the song's lyrics provided a capsulized summary of the "Taarna" vignette. "Veteran of the Psychic Wars" was used instead. Both songs can be found on Blue Oyster Cult's Fire of Unknown Origin album. The legal difficulties surrounding the movie maker's use of some of the songs in the movie delayed its release to video. Apparently, the production company's use of the songs was limited to the theatrical release and soundtracks alone, and didn't extend to the video release of the film. Rights negotiations took over 15 years to resolve, and the official home video release didn't debut until 1996. Tracks: 1. "Heavy Metal" (Sammy Hagar) (3:50) 2. "Heartbeat" (Riggs) (4:20) 3. "Working in the Coal Mine" (Devo) (2:48) 4. "Veteran of the Psychic Wars" (Blue 5. 6. Öyster Cult) (4:48) 7. "Reach Out" (Cheap Trick) (3:35) 8. "Heavy Metal (Takin' a Ride)" (Don Felder) (5:00) 9. "True Companion" (Donald Fagen) (5:02) 10. "Crazy (A Suitable Case for Treatment)" (Nazareth) (3:24) 11. "Radar Rider" (Riggs) (2:40) 12. "Open Arms" (Journey) (3:20) 13. "Queen Bee" (Grand Funk Railroad) (3:11) 14. "I Must Be Dreamin'" (Cheap Trick) (5:37) 15. "The Mob Rules" (Black Sabbath) (2:43) 16. "All of You" (Don Felder) (4:18) 17. "Prefabricated" (Trust) (2:59) 18. "Blue Lamp" (Stevie Nicks) (3:48) Though used in the film, the songs "Through Being Cool" by Devo & "E5150" by Black Sabbath were not included in the released soundtrack album. |
