Good discussion of what is also called the confirmation bias or fallacy, or the "see the hits, ignore the misses" fallacy. Thanks. You're one of my favorites here in YouTube land.

Thank you! Yeah, I wanted to go a bit further than the official definition of "confirmation bias"...but essentially still the same thing. I try not to use too many "big words" for our lower leveled intelligent visitors....obviously not talking about my KICK ASS subscribers who are all geniuses (minus the trolls)

I was diagnosed with ADHD. They put me on three different medications to try and "fix" me. The meds depressed me, and evventually I went off them. The way to deal with ADHD or ADD is simple: sheer will. I force myself to concentrate on what I need to do. This method works much better than any medication ever could.

Exactly. ADD is a pointless thing to diagnose.

As someone in the medical field working with juveniles, I see it all the time. ADD medication is the most overdiagnosed issue I've seen. That and a combination with a parent saying "My son's energetic fix him" ...and wanting a quick fix instead of both working on it and doctors wanting to prescribe to bilk insurance companies for money and all, it's given out. Way unnecessarily, not to mention the horrible side effects. I'm with you there.

...and you're right. When they can sit at a computer for 12 hours a day, but refuse to do homework for 10 minutes, that is not an ADD issue. That's a self control issue.

bingo...thanks SO much for that confirmation...I wish more doctors would just admit that as well. Happily, I can say that my pediatrician is one of those doctors that will tell you that ADD is a bunch of crap.
